Delivered by Joanne Hanrahan.

The psychological, cognitive, physiological, social and spiritual benefits of interacting with nature have been well documented in research and literature in recent years. However, the global Pandemic lockdowns have heightened people’s awareness of the regulating properties of nature. Many gained a new appreciation for their local green or blue spaces under Covid restrictions, while others longed for increased contact with the natural world after lockdown.

My unique interactive and experiential seminar aims to increase participants’ awareness of the importance of human connection to nature, and gain foundational insight into how that engagement can both nourish wellbeing and help towards trauma resolution. The training will also help participants explore some examples of practical ways to integrate nature into clinical practice while focusing on regulating the Nervous Systems of both therapist and client.

Learning Objectives include:

  • To develop a foundational understanding of the background, research and literature relevant to integrating Nature into your practice.

  • To increase awareness of the wider ‘Green Care’ and ‘Ecotherapy’ context.

  • To gain an awareness of the basic concepts of Polyvagal Theory and Trauma Informed approaches.

  • To develop insights into nature-based interventions through examples from clinical practice.

  • To experience and process nature-based exercises.

  • To have the opportunity to interact with other professionals and increase your matrix of support.
