Psychotherapy, The Wild Atlantic Way

Joanne Hanrahan

About Me

I am a Psychotherapist with a background in Career Guidance and Counselling. Both professions have allowed me to make real connections with people and bear witness to the pain, anxiety, stress and deep hurt that we all experience, for periods, as we journey through life. I count myself lucky that I have spent my career truly embracing the uniqueness of the individual and cherishing my relationship with each and every client. Having worked for over 20 years in the field of Counselling & Psychotherapy, the courage of the adults and adolescents I have met has inspired my ongoing personal and professional development in this very privileged and relational work.

My Qualifications

I have completed five years of post graduate study in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy including a Masters from DCU & Turning Point Institute. I am a fully accredited member the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) which is under the umbrella of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP). I have also completed a post graduate qualification in Career Guidance & Counselling with UCC and am a member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC).

As a strong believer in Lifelong Learning, I am currently completing a three year advanced Postgraduate Professional Training in Somatic Experiencing (SE). This is run by Ireland SE (ISE). SE is an approach to trauma resolution, and to relieving the impact of trauma on the body.

Additional training include Outdoor Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Jungian Sand Therapy, 'Psychotherapy & Mental Health Diagnosis', and ASIST Suicide Prevention.
